
The iPhone keeps apps open in the background to improve performance with multitasking between apps.
To close all open apps on the iPhone 11 or 10, simply swipe up from the button of the screen and pause halfway. You’ll then see all the apps that are currently open. Swipe an app up to close an individual app. Alternatively, swipe multiple apps to close several apps at once.
On the iPhone 8, 7, 6, or prior, double tap the home button. You’ll then see all apps that are currently open. Similar to with the iPhone 11 or 10, swipe an app up to close an individual app or swipe multiple apps to close several apps at once.
